International fans are in for a treat because Zion.T is coming to London as part of his European tour! After an impressive turn out of Korean talent including Giriboy and Crush last year, Cult of Ya announced yet another hip hop and R&B singer will be performing in an upcoming gig.
Acclaimed as one of the most iconic singer-songwriters, Zion.T has released mega-hits “Eat” and “Just” and collaborated with the biggest stars in South Korea such as G-Dragon, Song Min-ho and Crush in the space of just under five years.
After signing under The Black Label, a new label to YG Entertainment, his performance at O2 Forum Kentish Town is expected to be the biggest show Cult of Ya has hosted.
Renowned DJ and producer Choice 37, who has produced songs for Big Bang, 2NE1 and WINNER, will also be at the performance and on deck duties on the night.
To celebrate Zion.T coming to London (and emotionally prepare for his epic show) on February 17, below are five of Inspire Me Korea’s favourite songs by the legendary hip hop and R&B singer.
No Makeup is one of his most known songs because of its refreshing melody making the track an easy-listen. Zion.T develops his sound by enlisting the help of Jazz pianist Yoon Seok Cheol who he has worked with before. Teamwork makes the dream work!
It is no surprise Kiss Me was chosen as Pinocchio’s OST because his soft and dreamy vocals compliment the premise of the popular South Korean drama. The singer strips it back to basics with just an instrumental piano playing which demonstrates his confidence and the power behind his vocals.
Eureka (feat. Zion.T)
Z Z Z ICO. Z Z ZION T. Eureka is a bouncy track with strong Jazz influences. Not what you would expect to hear from R&B singers but the duo make it work to their advantage. They are Z Z Z ICO and Z Z ZION T after all. It’s fun and catchy (plus Zion.T looks like Inspector Gadget so what’s not to love!)
Click Me (feat. Dok2)
From his Red Light album, Click Me is the epitome of R&B. The layered vocals and heightened beat in the chorus creates the base of the track, but Zion.T takes it and runs with it. His vocals add a unique flair and makes it memorable alongside hit song “Babay” feat. Gaeko.
Yanghwa BRDG is arguably his most popular song in his five year music career. Written and produced somewhat as a letter, Zion.T shows his feelings on the theme of family – specifically that compares his father’s path to Yangwa BRDG. The smooth flow of the song is undeniably charming, but does not distract the listeners from his standout vocals.
