News Roundup: what happened in February?

Although this month has been a bit quieter than last month, we’ve had a lot to watch with the winter Olympics keeping us entertained.

Got7 had us all on the edge of our seat after they released a teaser for their upcoming tour. Now the list of dates and locations have been revealed and we’re all trying to figure out if we can go. The boy’s tour has 17 dates, spans across 4 months and 4 continents. We can only look forward to it and hope the boys have a great time.

Comebacks – BoA

BoA the queen of K-Pop herself has made a comeback and graced us with her presence once again. Debuting in 2000, she’s been singing for 18 years, and we’ve been waiting for three years for a new album. Finally, the time has come with the release of ‘One-shot, Two-shot.’ The singer-songwriter dance machine has proved to us that she’s still got it, and we can’t wait for more! While we do wait, we’ll be jamming out to ‘One-shot, Two-shot.’

This 13 member boy group who debuted in 2015 released the special ‘director’s cut’ album on February the 5th. The album is an ode to the fans to say thanks, just like the aptly named title track ‘Thanks, 고맙다.’ The boys have a busy year ahead of them as they will be making their official Japanese debut.

The Pyeongchang winter Olympics just wrapped on Sunday 25th, with a brilliant closing ceremony. (Although I think we can agree more K-Pop performances would have been good.) The last 17 days have been a whirlwind of medals, snow, cold weather and dancing Soohorangs.

The athletes from 92 nations participated in 102 events in 15 sports. Norway took the top spot on the medal chart with 2nd to Germany and then Canada in 3rd. South Korea made it to a very impressive 7th place, we all think it was well deserved. Some real stars of the show were the South Korean curling team who gained a silver medal but stole the heart of Korea. Yun Sung Bing ‘Ironman’ won gold and impressed with his skills on the skeleton, not to mention the Korean speed skaters. All the athletes that competed in the games performed amazingly and should be proud of their hard work and achievements!!

We have the Winter Paralympics to look forward next and that begins on the 9th of March.
