Hello Talk: Bringing You Closer to the World, One Language at a Time – APP REVIEW

HelloTalk is a mobile social network that focuses on language learning and culture sharing for global audiences. In HelloTalk, you chat and make friends easily with assistance from translation, voice to text, grammar correction, and speak selection tools through text/audio messages, as well as voice/video calls. In HelloTalk, you get connected with real people who might be your “penpals” that can help you with your Korean grammar/accent, explain Korean culture to you, or even be your travel buddy in South Korea. Download HelloTalk from App Store or Google Play, and make friends with Korean people today!

Have you ever wanted to learn another language? Perhaps Spanish? French? Or even Korean?

Hello Talk has easy to use features and a top-notch translator, you’ll be learning your language of choice in no time!

Here are some examples of how it works:

Our favourite tools are the “Drawing Board” and the “Notepad” that has a quick and easy guide of how to use the app with ease.

The “Drawing Board” as I like to call it, comes in handy for practicing your Hangul, and sharing your work between buddies.

The Notepad section is a practice area, where you trial your voice messages and more!

Now here comes the interesting part…

If you plan to take your language practice further, you can search for native speakers in your country or city; this is great, as HelloTalk displays the exact time in your Language Partner’s country.

HelloTalk caters to one and all, and you can customise who can search for you, your privacy (such as age and location), and the types of voices you hear when translating text.

If you really want to get the full experience, I recommend purchasing the V.I.P member package from the store. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • An increase in the amount of messages you can send to other users per day
  • Special stickers
  • Unlimited Translation
  • Unlimited Transliteration
  • Notes can be increased to 1000 characters

HelloTalk really thinks about its users, and has updated numerous times throughout its two-year life span. Version 2.1.5 is the most recent version, and in the Version History section, you can see how far this application has come.

A few personal thoughts:

I would describe this app as speedy and user friendly. By using this app, I have acquired a friend that is very dear to me, and I now visit her in South Korea every year! What started out as language exchange, turned into exchanging of cultures and experiences.

Being able to interact with real people pushes you to to learn faster and learn everyday conversational language.

So what are you waiting for?
