‘The Days’ Korean Hair Salon Experience

Located just behind the Trick Eye Museum, on the 2nd floor above a Japanese restaurant, you’ll find an aesthetically pleasing hair salon wrapped in pastel pink and blues – and this is none-other than The Day’s Hair Salon!

Convenient located in trendy and youthful Hongdae area, The Day’s Hair Salon offers all the services you’d expect, but what sets them apart is that they specialise in cutting, dying and styling foreigners’ hair!

Korean’s hair is generally quite thick, so it’s not unusual that one might be a little apprehensive about leaving their hair up to a Korean salon – even in Western hair parlours’ there’s always the fear that they won’t understand your hairs’ needs.

Well, that’s definitely not a problem at The Day’s! Once you arrive, your hair stylist sits with you and asks a few questions to better understand your hair, what you’ve recently done with it, and what you hope to achieve. We found them to be very thorough and listened carefully about our concerns, then translated this into their expertise and offered suitable recommendations.

After this consult, we decided that bleach would be the best way to achieve ash brown hair – then we got to work. It was very reassuring to know that the hair stylist (in our case Dean, the owner) ran us through each step and told us what we should expect.

Bleaching is quite a long process, but we felt so comfortable as The Day’s Hair Salon offer free wifi, free phone charging, beverages and biscuits! We were also pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the seats, having an extra cushion for your arms, a plastic thin visor to shield your face, and little clear elastic bags (like mini shower caps) that hook right over your ears so they’re protected!

The whole process took around 5 hours – which is to be expected if you are going with bleach and dyeing – but rather than feeling exhausted, we felt refreshed and got a new surge of self-confidence when we saw the results. Dean took into account all of our concerns, and offered further advice about after care after the dyeing process.

Although it’s natural to assume that bleaching and dyeing can be detrimental to hair health, Dean added extra nutritional shots of product which reduces the damage by over half! This meant that after the whole process, the hair is still pretty and healthy.

If you are also interested to use The Day’s Hair Salon’s services, we recommend you book an appointment in advance – since they usually have a 3 day wait list. They are very responsive on via Instagram and Facebook messages as well, so if that is your preferred method of contact you’ll be happy to know Dean can help you!
