2017 has barely begun and idol groups are already making their comeback! 7-member girl group AOA released their first Korean studio album Angel’s Knock with not one, but two singles entitled Excuse me and Bing Bing. Each single has its own music video as well, so we feel truly spoiled! The music video for Bing Bing was more choreography based, whereas Excuse Me had a storyline throughout, and is therefore the MV we’ll focus on reviewing.

Right from the beginning the detective or spy concept is made clear, from the fingerprints to the plotted map on the wall which instantly captured our attention. The clash between the old, 50’s style fashion and set design with the new, modern beat was something that appealed to us as well as it is a new style that few groups have experimented with before.

From taking a closer look at the lyrics, we believe Excuse Me is about when you see someone for the first time and the sudden feelings towards them are so strong that they surprise you and you have to find them again. This is reflected in the MV, where each of the girls are visiting different locations at different times, trying to find the mystery man again. They each have different roles to play, and finally at the end of the music video Seolhyun successfully finds him on the train.

There are so many costume changes in the music video that it was hard to keep up! They each have an individual outfit for the storyline portion of the music video, as well as three outfits for the dance sections which all of them wear together. Our favourite of the three is the bolero trench coat jacket with matching high waisted shorts and burgundy heels, an outfit reminiscent of the costumes in their famous Miniskirt MV.

We’re so happy to see AOA making their comeback and returning back to their old style but with a fresh sound. Hopefully the album sells lots of copies and we can’t wait to watch them perform on music broadcasts!

Haven’t seen either MV yet? Watch both of them here!
