Story by Sukrit Chopra:
How did you find out about Korea / The Korean Culture?
I found out through a friend! I had absolutely no knowledge about the Korean culture till I was introduced to it the first day I met that friend. It was supposed to be a short 30 min chat, but she spent 4 hours showing me clips from Running Man, K-pop songs and Korean snacks. By the end of that meeting, I was hooked.
I had never tried listening to Korean music; never tried to watch a Korean TV show either but when she introduced them to me, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. It’s been 4 months and I can’t recall a single day in these past 4 months when I didn’t listen to K-Music.
Why do you like it?
I personally love the fact that there is a huge variety of everything in the Korean culture. From K-pop to Korean Indie music; from K-Dramas to variety shows, the culture is unique and eloquently expresses each theme. It’s impossible for me to pinpoint exactly what it is that I like but I do tend to swerve between genres of music every month and types of TV shows as well. This month it’s K-Indie and Running Man (Variety)
What do you like the most?
The Honorifics – It amazes me how much people focus on respecting each other. To me, Koreans are very soft spoken people and it makes them approachable and easy to communicate with.
I also love Ramyeon; cannot stop eating it!
