9 Restaurants or Cafés Owned by K-pop Idols

In the world of K-pop, you might be familiar with an idol’s musical work, whether it be their songs, choreography, or music videos. However, there are some K-pop idols who have ventured into a business of a different kind by owning their own restaurants or cafes. Although it is not common for a K-pop idol to do so, there are a few who have opened their own businesses by themselves or even with their families. Listed below are the few who have chosen to do so.  

1. Big Bang G-Dragon – Untitled, 2017

Location: Jeju Shinhwa World, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, South Korea

If you ever get the opportunity to visit one of Korea’s most beautiful islands, Jeju Island, you should go and check G-Dragon’s cafe “Untitled, 2017”. It is located in Jeju Shinhwa World at the YG Republique Jeju Shinhwa World, and G-Dragon was personally involved in the designing of place. This cafe has only been open since 2017 but is already claiming profit and has earned a name for being a popular destination on the island.


2. BTS Jin – Ossu Seiromushi

Location: 30 Baekjegobun-ro 45-gil, Songpa il-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul

Food: Japanese Seiro-Mushi

Here’s another restaurant for you to try if you are into Japanese cuisine. Jin from BTS and his brother have opened a Japanese restaurant near Seokchon Lake Park and Lotte World in Seoul. It was recently opened last year in July, but has garnered a lot of attention since its opening. The menu is simple as they only serve Japanese style steamed meat, vegetables, mushrooms, and other condiments. The price can be a little high as they only use top-class fresh ingredients, which seems worthy as most who have gone have only had compliments about the food.


3. Super Junior Yesung – Mouse Rabbit

Location: 1 Neungdong-ro 11-gil, Hwayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul

Mouse Rabbit is a three-floored cafe with a terrace owned and managed by Yesung and his brother. They both worked together in order to decorate and establish this business, hence the name Mouse Rabbit. Yesun was born in the year of the mouse – 1984, and his brother in the year of the rabbit – 1987. It is located near Konkuk University Station and is a popular destination within the area.


4. Exo Chanyeol – Viva Polo

Location: 1631 Yangjae-daero, Myeongil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul

Food: Italian Cuisine

Chanyeol from Exo’s restaurant has opened his own restaurant called Viva Polo. There are several branches scattered throughout Seoul. The one in Myeongdong, however, is decorated with his own photos and is probably the one most visited by his fans. Inside, you’ll even find autographed decor from other EXO members. The menu at Viva Polo offers different italian cuisine like pizza, risotto, and pasta.


5. EXO Kai – Kamong

Location: 356 Seochodae-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul

Although this cafe is not directly owned by EXO Kai, it was he who set it up for his older sister. It is a popular spot for both his fans and EXO fans to gather. The place is also decorated with his own writing and drawings. The name is inspired from his own name and his dog’s name “Monggu”. It is located near Gangnam station and has glass windows through which you can enjoy the view.


6. Miss A Suzy – Cafe Soo

Location: 14-25 Usan-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, South Korea

Here is another cafe that is owned by family members and not the idol herself. However, it is very much a place dedicated to Suzy from Miss A. The cafe came to be after Suzy opened it to gift to her parents. The place is filled with photographs and portraits of her and has become a tourist attraction of sorts for those visiting the area. This cafe is located in Suzy’s hometown ,Gwanju, and offers friendly prices for their food.  


7. AOMG Jay Park – Cafe Dudart

Location: 642-15 Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

Cafe Dudart is a cafe and bakery located in Gangnam and is a partnership between Jay Park and his company AOMG, a record label in South Korea. Inside, you can find company merchandise as well as some of Jay Park’s as well.


8. Infinite Dongwoo – Inchang Octopus

Food: Pork Belly and Octopus

Another restaurant owned by a K-pop idol is the restaurant “Inchang Octopus” by Infinite’s Dongwoo. It is operated by his family and it is located in Gyeonggi-do, Guri. The restaurant offers some hot, spicy octopus grilled with pork belly. The restaurant is decorated with several photos of Dongwoo and his autographs. Many of his fans take the trip down there despite it being a bit far away from Seoul.  


These are just some of the K-pop idols who own restaurants and cafes in Korea. If you are ever in the area, make sure to take a look and try out the food. You might also want to take some pictures as most of these places are filled with decor of the idols’ headshots and photographs. It is also not unusual for the idol to visit their restaurant or cafe from time to time, so you might just get lucky.
