The RM family lives to fight another day as the show will not be ending this year. Reports confirmed this morning Running Man will be continuing with the current six members.
SBS released an official press release stating that in response to the dissatisfaction of viewers, SBS and the cast have decided not to cancel the popular variety show.
SBS variety director Nam Seung Yong met with each of the cast members in the beginning of the year. Nam Seung Yong, who first led the creation of Running Man back in 2010, apologised for what happened during the attempts to reformat the show.
Following the controversy of Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook after being forced to leave, SBS announced the show will not be returning after February 2017.
However, it seems with the help of Nam Seung Yong, the cast came to an agreement to continue filming. Including Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook!
He also said, “I thank the Running Man members for making a decision which must have been difficult to make, and we will do our best to greet viewers who have loved Running Man for the last 7 years, both in Korea and overseas, with even more entertaining Running Man.”
Fans are pleased with the decision, but some are concerned about the health of certain cast members. Soompi user Stephanie Yamoah posted: “Happy, but I was only ready for this show to end because of their health.” Another user in response suggested they will give missions that do not require a lot of running.
What do you think about Running Man returning? And what changes will they make in the revamp?
