Ahh…the sweet smell of Spring!
It’s that time of year again! The cherry blossoms are in full bloom and everybody is just happier because summer isn’t so far away anymore!
As we all know cherry blossom trees are hard to come by here in the UK, but they do blossom in a variety of places each year. To name a few places – Kew gardens, Alexander Palace and Greenwich Park have some spectacular trees that show such fantastic colours.
The cherry blossom trees are a great tourist attraction for many foreigners to see in Korea especially. This year there will be Cherry Blossom Festivals in many parts of Korea, which are sure to bring millions of tourists. Here are a few places that are holding some amazing events!
1. The Southern port district of Jinhae (진해) in the city of Changwon. Families find this a great time to bond and get together to see some great sites! This festival will be held from April 1st to the 10th.
2. Yeouido yunjung-ro street. This is an area that is covered by 1600 cherry trees from Jeju island planted along the hanging river. The street becomes lively and joyful for those who want to relax after a busy day or work, and should be held around the 10th of April.
3. Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Marathon – the marathon covers a distance of 42.195 and begins from Gyeonju World Cultural Expo Park, the runners will go past the lakeside and ends again at the park. The blossom lined lake is a great distraction for the breathless runners each year! The date will be scheduled for April 9, 2016.
