Winter In Korea 겨울

The season of thick sweaters, a mug of creamy hot chocolate and the first snow that leaves the ground bright and fluffy is arriving. Winter is creeping in on us, and South Korea has been preparing for it with a change to warmer clothing hanging on the rails down the shopping streets. The beautiful Autumn leaves are falling rapidly, and that marks the time to take out your coat from the corner of the wardrobe. There are many things to see and do during this season; here are our top places!

This month is still relatively safe in terms of snowfall, however it is rather rainy, and of course we still want to do as much shopping as possible! Underground shopping malls are convenient way to stay dry, and find those unique bargains at the same time! We recommend the Go To Mall, (Gangnam Terminal Underground Shopping Center) 고투몰. This mall offers a large range of products, such as accessories, cosmetics and many more. A favourite amongst foreign visitors, you can find everything that you would find in Dongdaemun 동대문 and Namdaemun 남대문, but for a much cheaper price! Don’t forget to visit the food court too – there is a fantastic food court in the Express Bus Terminal and connected to it is Famille Station and Garden which is well worth visiting.

This is the home to an aquarium, a movie theatre, duty free stores and a number of brand named ones! You can find Coex Mall by travelling to Samseong Station 삼성동, Line 2- Exits 5 and 6.

Shivering? Why not visit a Korean sauna/spa with family or a group of friends? This is a great place to bond, relax and stay warm! The biggest spa resort in Korea called Dragon Hill Spa in Yongsan 용산 includes so many facilities such as a swimming pool, several jacuzzis, children’s area, cinema, arcade and more! You could spend the whole day hiding away from the chilly winds here for a decent day price.

Don’t forget the Seoul Kimchi Festival! Taking place for three days, from 6th-8th November, at Seoul Plaza; Taepyeong-ro and Gwanghwamun Square 광화문. Lastly, there’s Pepero Day 빼빼로 데 이, which is hosted on 11th November. Make sure to pick up your gifts for your loved ones!
