You’ve probably heard about all the unique and trendy concept café’s that are popping up all over Korea. From activity café’s where you can drink coffee and have fun with friends to ones that are famous for a signature beverage or dessert, they’ve got everything! These cafés are a great place to go and relax if you’ve been busy shopping with friends or sightseeing. Here’s a list of some of our favourites, located all over Seoul:

1. Sulbing Dessert Café – Various branches all over

You may not have heard of ‘Sulbing’, but you’ve probably heard of ‘Bingsu’! This is a Korean dessert made of shaved ice with lets of fresh fruit on top and fruit flavoured syrups as well. However, the Sulbing uses frozen milk instead of the ice as a base which tastes just as delicious! What we love about this café is its location, as it’s right in the heart of the beauty capital of Korea.

2. Board Game Café, – Hongdae

We think there’s nothing better than playing a board game or two after a long day out with friends. Of course there are many of these board game cafés dotted all over the capital, but our favourite is this hidden gem in Hongdae! Tucked away in a the basement of a building, you’ll be greeted by the sounds of laughter from other happy game players. Pay only 2,000 won an hour to play popular board games from around the world and enjoy affordable snacks and drinks as you play. If you’re a bit competitive and play well into the evening, you and your friends can go and enjoy the vibrant nightlife afterwards! Maybe the winner should buy the first round of drinks for everyone?

3. LINE Friends Café & Store – Gangnam

Gangnam is known for being the trendiest district in Seoul, with many celebrities going to shop there. Therefore, it’s no surprise to find the LINE Café here too! Selling Brown and Cony themed ice creams in the basement and merchandise featuring all the LINE friends on all floors, you’ll lose your mind here!

Also in Hongdae is this unique café! Upon first glance, the Thanks Nature Café looks like any other café you might find in Seoul. However as you look closer, you’ll realise that the café has more than just waffles and coffee – more specifically, sheep! They’re both very sweet and friendly, and it’s definitely something different if you’ve already visited a dog or cat café.

5. Poop Café – Jongno

You probably know about the ‘Poop’ trend that’s in Korea, as it symbolizes good luck and fortune. But did you know that there was a Poop Café? It’s definitely one of those things you have to see to believe, but we love the concept! It’s close to the Gyeongbokgung Palace, so why not pay this place a visit while you’re in the neighbourhood? After all, is there a better way to relax than drinking coffee out of a mini toilet-shaped mug while munching on a poop shaped pancake?

We hope this list has given you an insight into the many amazing cafés that you can find in Seoul. Make sure to visit at least one of these on your travels!
