Best Art Museums In South Korea!

If you’re making plans to go to South Korea, you might be looking for activities to add to your itinerary. Well, why not an art galleries? Whether you’re an art aficionado or just want to take pictures of pretty things, there’s a museum for you. After all, South Korea has the most private art museums in the world so there must be one for everyone! Here’s just a few of our favourites that we know you’ll love:

Operating Hours: Tuesday – Sunday, 10:00 – 18:00 Admission: Free!

This gallery is Seoul’s oldest art gallery, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth visiting. Year on year improvements are being made, thus making it the masterpiece it is today. It has two locations – one in Gangnam and another in Sagan-dong, so be sure to stop by at least one of the two!

Ho-Am Art Museum

Operating Hours: Tuesday – Sunday, 10:00 – 18:00 Admission: 4,000 won for adults, 3,000 won for children

This museum is perfect for anyone who wants to have fun but experience culture at the same time. Located in Everland, South Korea’s largest theme park, is a beautiful art gallery inside a traditional hanok building. Here you’ll find national treasures as well as more contemporary pieces so it’s definitely worth checking out!

Is modern art more your style? Then this iconic gallery in the Gangnam will be right up your street! It’s home to the artwork of many international as well as Korean artists, with the exhibits changing all the time to keep up with the art scene. Why not stop by as a break from shopping in the nearby area?

Visiting the famous Gyeongbokgung Palace on your trip? Well make sure to go to this museum while you’re there. Here, you can find out more about domestic and agricultural lifestyle of ordinary Korean citizens from the past. We found it fascinating, and we’re sure you will too!

Operating Hours: 10:30 – 18:00 Admission: 10,000 won

If you’ve only got time for one museum on your trip, this is definitely the one you should see! It has both traditional and contemporary artpieces from Korean and international artists. Even the buildings themselves are a work of art, as they’ve each been designed by world class architects. So in other words, there’s a bit of everything here!

  • 🌷 Pretty afternoon well spent in an equally pretty cafe ~ 🙌🏻☺️ although drinks at cafes are quite expensive relative to food in Korea... at least the cafes are aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to relax and catch up in!! Sometimes a main meal can be the same price as one coffee!! 😅😅
