Inspired by KOREA Series – 5. Dallah

So just under 5 years ago, while I was in uni I was working on one of my projects during a late evening. One of my friends decided to take a break from his project and started blasting music that I have never heard before but it seemed quite catchy. So I just went over to his desktop and he was watching a K-pop music video on YouTube. I found it strange at first but really cool at the same time. Yeah I’ll be honest the members of KARA did kind of help me get into it.

So in my own spare time I started listening to other K-pop artists and finally my preference began to go towards K-Hip Hop. As I was listening and researching more and more about the artists, it got me watching the Korean TV shows like Running Man, Family Outing and some dramas.

So I’ve kept a keen interest since then and wanted to travel there some day. I initially wanted to go with friends, but our schedules seemed to clash and I just ran out of patience and figured it would still be fun if I travelled alone! So I went ahead and booked a ticket to fly to Korea in June 2015 for a 2 week holiday.
During this travel experience is when I fell in love with Korea; I stayed in Seoul and also visited Jeju Island. There are so many things to do especially at night! If you are a gamer you can go to a PC Bang, if you like dancing and music there are many places/clubs you could go to. If you enjoy singing and wish to be like your idol there are karaoke rooms that are hella cheap! If you enjoy food or even late night snacking, you can find it!!
An area I especially loved and spent most of my time in was Hongdae, it’s got so much street swag to it, which I love. I would say just the overall experience; the kind people who love meeting foreigners, the beautiful city, and the great food, just everything did it for me! This is why I decided to actually learn the language and will be going again soon!
