Congratulations! You’ve just become a character for a new K-drama!
Answer the following questions and count up at the end how many A‘s or B‘s you got – this will determine what sort of K-drama character you are…are you more of a hero or a rival? The best friend or the irrelevant side-character?
Find out below!
1) You’ve moved to a new school – time to pick an image! Would you rather…
A) Be the rebellious student that the teacher’s hate, but you have a close group of friends?
B) Be the popular class president that the teacher’s like, but have no real friends?
2) You’re standing on the side of the road when you see someone who’s about to be hit by an oncoming car! Would you rather…
A) Run to them, grab their wrist and pull them out the way?
B) Jump in front of the car yourself and hope it stops?
3) Whoops! You’ve accidentally offended an ancient Goblin! As a punishment, he put’s a curse on you. Would you rather…
A) Be able to see and speak with ghosts, but they constantly annoy you by complaining about their past lives?
B) Turn into a mer-person every-time you cry?
4) Quick! Your rival is about to ask out the love of your life! Would you rather…
A) Confess to your crush first before your rival can, but risk getting a humiliating rejection in front of everyone?
B) Don’t confess. There are plenty of other fish in the sea!
That’s it! Now count how many A’s or B’s you got and see what kind of character you are.
Oh boy, you’re definitely one of the main characters for this drama! In fact, you’re the hero! You’re somewhat headstrong and intimidating but you’re also brave and kind to those you love. Your romantic life may be all over the place sometimes but in the end it will, usually, work out for you.
[e.g. Kim Bok Joo from Weightlifting Fairy]
Although you have some amazing qualities, it’s not enough to make you a main character – you’re the best friend/sidekick of the hero! This means you’re supportive, put others before yourself and are, probably, good at making people laugh – especially your friends.
[e.g. Secretary Kong from Strong Woman Do Bong Soon]
Half A’s, Half B’s: The Celebrity Cameo
You may not be in the whole drama, but you certainly make the show better – even if the writers get rid of you as soon as your character is introduced, you’ll never be forgotten!
[e.g. Joon Byung Hee from Shut Up! Flower Boy Band]
Mostly B’s: The Character that Deserved Better
You have many qualities that make people like you and for a while you have people convinced that everything will be okay – but according to K-Drama law, it turns out your character doesn’t end up with the person they love, or worse, they get killed off. But fear not, you’re often the fan-favourite in your show!
[e.g. Jihoon from Boys Over Flowers]
All B’s: The Rival
Congrats! You’re one of the main characters. But being the hero’s rival doesn’t mean you’re evil (all the time). You tend to look after yourself a lot and are careful who you let close to you, but you do go through great efforts to protect your loved ones and, at times, can be extremely selfless.
[e.g. Queen Jiso from Hwarang]
