We at Inspire Me Korea have spotted an amazing release that we want to recommend to our readers, Far East Movement’s ‘Umbrella’!
Far East Movement is an Asian-American hip-hop EDM group who have recently released an album of collaborations with Korean artists, called ‘Identity’. You may also know them from previous songs ‘Like a G6’ and ‘Rocketeer’. Have a listen to the album which features EXO’s Chanyeol, Girl’s Generation’s Tiffany, Urban Zakapa, Yoon Mirae and Jay Park, as well as Tinashe, Soulja Boy, Macy Gray and more!
We wanted to bring your attention to the track featuring Hyolyn of SISTAR and music producer Gill Chang. It is called ‘Umbrella’ and is a mid-tempo song, beautifully sung by Hyolyn. She doesn’t use her powerhouse vocals here, instead restraining her voice for an overall gentler feel.
The lyrics speak of promising a loved one that they will always be there to lift them up and encourage them through hard times. A short teaser video was released to promote this song and the album before it was available in its entirety, which unfortunately to-date doesn’t have a full version, but features famous female long boarder Ko Hyo Joo holding the frame of an umbrella, adorned with lights, cruising along the road through the night time city suburbs. As she effortlessly weaves through the streets in her trademark style, it really makes for an amazing and beautiful image. We highly recommend watching this short MV and hope you like the song too!
